Kiwiana

From a hot & humid Virginia summer to a cool New Zealand winter. The beaches are so beautiful. I can't find the words. It's amazing how geraniums & alyssum bloom here in winter. My camera doesn't do the beauty justice. I like the European flair to life here. I'm not anticipating traffic from "the other side" yet, so I fear one day I will get run over. :-) The picture was a random shot into water at Willowbank. Cropping & sepia the only edits. Something about that picture speaks to me...

Swallowtail Shawl

My first lace shawl project & I'm loving it! Swallowtail Shawl in progress... Once I finally figured out the pattern repeat, it was time to move on to another lace chart...

Pins & Pencils

Nathan's 4th grade contribution to our family heirloom pieces of cross-stitch. His designs. The pincushion he made for me. Underneath is his pencil-case.

Clay Head

Noah made this clay bust in 7th grade.

Progressive Dinner

I hosted the wine & cheese portion of our faculty's end-of-the-school-year progressive dinner party. New Zealand Oyster Bay Merlot. New Zealand Cheddar. New Zealand kiwifruit. There were five "stops." It was a lot of fun.

Me Again?

Morning sun.
The magnolias bloomed.
Peppermint fragrance
in the air.
The birds sang.
Spring in my heart and soul.

Like a bird carefree
I soared to
the heights of the sky.

Loving.
Joyful.
Laughing.
Dreaming.

Light as feathers.

Beauty below.
Hope ahead.

Dreaming.
Laughing.
Joyful.
Loving.

The evening.
A beautiful breeze
and fireflies.

Then.

A shot in the darkness.
Seemingly from nowhere.
Straight to the heart
the bullet flew.

Pain.

Falling.
Falling.

Falling.

Plunk.

Numbness
as I hit the ground.

Here I am
looking up to
all that was
lost in the sky.

Hurting.
Crying.

Lonely.
Cold.
Shivering.

Mourning.
The dreams.
The hopes.
The love as pure
as a white rose.

Will I heal?
Will I be strong enough
to soar there again one day?

-

Please pinch me so
I can wake from this horrible nightmare
that has violated my heart and soul.

Pinch me to take away the pain.
It cannot be real.

But it is.

Wee Lil' Socks

Baby socks, ehmmm... stockings. :-) These are for a real baby, but I'm thinking about using some yarn-scraps to make some for the Christmas tree.
