Comments?

Last year there was a blog I read frequently & the blog author had this post about going "no comments." Back then I thought it was crazy. Why on earth would you write a blog and not give people a chance to say somethin'? Don't we all like to hear how beautiful our pictures are? What nifty ideas we have? Receive a message of support  from someone who is also at wits end with parenting a teenager?

Well, life has changed. I often read blogs & feel like I should comment, but the typing of the response, entering all your personal "codes" and word verifications (Yes. It usually takes me two tries. I should be wearing glasses, but I don't. Those squiggly letters really annoy me.) just takes so long. I still enjoy reading blogs, but I've gone from frequent commenting to rarely ever leaving a comment at all.

And so my thoughts have gone back to that blog from last year & I'm starting to think going "no comments" might be a good idea for my blog, too.

What do you think? Please do leave a comment. Ha! It might be your last chance to say something. :-)

I think leaving comments on something that you like is good feedback to that person, and sometimes people want to share and leaving comments is good.

I do not spend the time I use to commenting, like you I find the personal codes a chore.

i don't comment much on the blogs i read, although i want to and always think that i will get around to it when i have time tomorrow or the next day. sometimes though, it's something that hits me deeply and i find the time.....to not be able to communicate at all with the person who posted would frustrate me i think.....i do love your blog ☺

I don't comment very often on blogs, but there have been been blogs I've wanted to comment on and there hasn't been a comment section so I just comment in the 'contact me' section:)

I like leaving comments, I don't as often as I should probably due to the sheer volume of blogs I follow. I don't like it if I can't comment though, to me it seems like the person blogging isn't interested in other people's opinions.

I like to be able to leave a comment if I want to. I think I'd feel weird reading a 'no comment' blog, kinda like peeking into a secret diary because that person doesn't seem to want to interact. I don't leave as many comments as I used to - it's a time thing I guess.

Just been catching up on your blog - love the felted mitts and the window stars are truly beautiful.

I love leaving comments, when someone has put so much effort into a post it's nice to let them know it's been appreciated.
A blog without comments seems just like another magazine with no reader interaction.
It would be a lot easier if everyone disabled the word verification, that is the oe thing that really narks me. x

This is my first comment here. I only recently discovered your blog, and as a Waldorf-inspired homeschooler I love to look at the artwork and see what you are doing with your teaching.

I don't always comment on the blogs I read because I'm trying to cut down on screen time overall, but sometimes I like to offer support and encouragement, to say thanks and to ask questions.

There is only one blog I read which doesn't have comments, and I forget about that from time to time and write a comment and then discover it hasn't been sent. I find it frustrating. Mostly I want to tell the writer how much I appreciate having her blog for inspiration. It's nice to say thanks.

So I'll say thank you now, just incase I don't get another chance ;o)

I like to have the option to leave a comment if I want to, but I don't always, not because I don't want to, but just like many others, it's because I don't have a lot of time to do it!

Best wishes and I think your wee baby is lovely.

Definitely you should continue to allow comments. Otherwise you might as well keep a diary, for all the feedback you'll get! The only time I find commenting useless is when a blogger is so 'big' he/she gets hundreds of comments to each post. Then I don't bother, as I can't imagine the writer will be interested to read that many comments, and I think it's not worth my effort. In fact, I recently de-subscribed to one blog I've read for years, precisely because the blogger has too many followers and gets too many comments. That blog has ceased to feel like a give-and-take situation, and there's no longer any intimacy between writer and reader - which are two characteristics that separate blog-writing from book- or magazine-writing, in my view.

I love to have a choice in almost any aspect of life. I don't very often leave a comment, but it is good to know I could and sometimes I do. Thank you for your comments on my blog.

I enjoy comments and commenting although I don't comment as often as I'd like to. It makes it feel more like a conversation.

No codes here. I like mine where I have to view the comment and then I publish it. Otherwise I would probably never remember to go back and read them.

I do like it when the comment is right there on the page, like yours, so I can type the comment without having to wait on a pop up to comment.

Some people had trouble with my comments section so I, think, mine are now poop-ups :0{

i also do not comment as often as i would like to. i love visiting you here though! i see your qualms with commenting on other blogs but am unsure of how that correlates with shutting off the option on your blog. personally, i think it's nice to leave it as an option. sometimes we are really struck by something and want to respond. either way, i won't stop coming! hope you are well, rae

My comments get so lengthy at times, I go ahead and address an entire post to the person I am reading.I do love getting the wonderful comments, but sometimes,I fail to leave comments, then I feel guilty.

Aargh... I tried to leave you a comment this morning, but my ISp went down :-( Now to try to remember what I said.

I love to get comments on my blog (belated thanks for yours, sorry I've been a slacker and not replied). Often a comment will really make my day, they make me feel like I'm not talking to myself.

Is it up to you whether you want to read our comment of not though.

I do love your blog and reading your journey.

I do appreciate everyone's thoughts. I just wondered how people felt about that whole thing... Yes, I'm planning on still having a commenting option available. I love reading comments, but sort of feel guilty for commenting less on the blogs I read, although I do enjoy reading them. :-)
