School-Year Done!

Today was the last day of school. I won't officially return to teaching my class 'til mid-October. Summer break for the month of June means getting my classroom straight, writing those pretty narrative Waldorf reports, teaching two weeks of summer camp and moving. Doesn't sound like a break yet. There's hope for the month of July, though.

Last night was Noah's 8th grade commencement celebration. His teacher will be taking our first grade next year. Noah was in a 7th-8th combined class this year, technically being a 7th grader. He will be in a 7th-8th grade combined class next year, but with a new teacher. I'm glad he will have another year of Waldorf education. Each student gave a small speech. He was funny and spoke with confidence. In his thank-you to the woodworking-teacher he said, " When he told us at the beginning of the year that we would be making musical instruments, I thought he was a liar. Well, we made lyres & I want to thank him for that." Nice word play.

It was such a simple, yet lovely celebration. The flowers were amazingly beautiful & the home-baked treats just made it even more special.

Enjoy your break (when you get one), but even just the change of pace can be relaxing. Lovely flowers too.

Nothing like that last day oof school for reflecting . . . I honestly liked to sit in my quiet room, after the kids had gone, and reflect on the year.

Yes, Lottie, it will be a nice change of pace, even with everything that still needs to be done.

I normally reflect, too, but I had an appointment to rush to so it was different this year, Paula.

Marie, I'll be looking for a rosebush. :-)

Blessings!

Thanks for your visit to my blog! Your blog is full of good things. We have a couple of weeks before end of school year here, but the final choir concert/orchestra concert/theatre showcase/school carnival/art discovery lesson etc. are in high gear. It's a fun but busy time!
